Dr. Scott K. Butts
Originating from Minot, North Dakota, Dr. Scott K. Butts is a family dentist, who has been practicing in the Triangle area for the past six years. Dr. Butts brings a unique perspective to dentistry by employing knowledge from his years of service in the U.S. Army where he was a Registered Nurse for the ARMY Nurse Corps. His experience in the Army provides him a greater understanding of the patient as a whole with a commitment to excellence.
Dr. Butts education consists of a BA in Accounting from the University of North Dakota and a BS in Nursing from Syracuse University. Upon his discharge from the Army, he and his wife settled in Durham where he was a clinical nurse leader for Duke’s Cardio-Thoracic Operating Rooms. In 2004 he enrolled in University of North Carolina School of Dentistry to pursue his career as a general dentist.
Dr. Butts and his wife, Maureen – a Family Nurse Practitioner at Duke, along with their twin boys relocated to Holly Springs in 2009. During his free time, Dr. Butts can be found with family, friends, participating in outdoor activities, or playing basketball or football with his two sons. Dr. Butts and his family are parishioners at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Fuquay.

Dr. Butts’ vision for his practice is to develop a lifelong trust with each patient and to demonstrate a unique level of care focusing on the “entire health” of the patient.
Jana, originally from Durham, relocated to Sanford in 2013. She has worked in the dental field for the last 15 years as a scheduling coordinator. She is highly regarded for her compassionate personality and truly cares about the patient’s needs. She believes the most important thing is for each person to feel comfortable and welcome whenever they call or come into the office for an appointment.
She spends her time away from work with her beautiful daughter, significant other and his son. She enjoys working in the yard, renovating and remodeling homes, and loves going to the beach with her family.
Carrie is from Kings Mountain (little town south of Charlotte), North Carolina. She moved to Willow Springs after graduating high school. She graduated Wake Tech Dental Assisting program in 2013 and thereafter received her CDA. In October of the same year, she married her husband, Matt.
Carrie has always had a passion for dentistry. She believes a beautiful smile is important. She enjoys working with patients to assist them to achieve and maintain great dental health. Her favorite part about her role in dental healthcare is getting to know her patients and their families.
When Carrie is not at the office working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She loves playing the piano and spending time outdoors. Trips to the beach are her favorite! On the weekends she spends her time attending church with family and relaxing.
Andrea, though originally from Idaho, loves living in North Carolina. She graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University. Andrea is a Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society member and served two years as a Dental Hygiene Advocate AmeriCorps service member. AmeriCorps is a domestic peace-corps network of volunteer service members seeking to meet public health needs. Some of her service experience involved working with mobile dental units in elementary schools and implementing positive oral health changes in assisted living centers.
Andrea is passionate about oral health promotion and disease prevention. She loves the opportunity at Avent Ferry Family Dentistry to provide treatment to patients and encourage them in making changes related to oral and systemic health.
She and her husband have been married for four years and have a pet rabbit, Max, that came with them all the way from Idaho. Andrea loves repurposing furniture, shopping at second-hand stores, and doing Yoga and Pilates.
I have lived in Sanford, North Carolina my whole life. I attended college at Pitt Community College in Greenville, North Carolina where I graduated in 2015 with my Associates degree in Applied Science for Medical Office Administration. During my free time I enjoy going to the beach, spending time with family, and playing with my dog. I am looking forward to getting married in September to my fiancé, Jordan. I am a loving and outgoing person. I feel that it is important to greet each patient with a smile and to make each patient feel welcome when they come into the office.
Sommer Wisher has been a resident of Raleigh, NC for 10 years and loves her community. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry with her BS in Dental Hygiene. While at UNC, Sommer served as president of her class, was active on several committees, and was awarded the Dental Hygiene Alumni Award and the Dwight Clark Memorial Award. Currently, Sommer serves as secretary on the Durham Orange Dental Hygienist’s Association and on the Dental Hygiene Community Advisory Committee at UNC.
Sommer is excited about her career at Avent Ferry Family Dentistry and is passionate about educating patients on how to maintain a gorgeous and healthy smile. Her goal is to create a warm, joyful and fun experience with every patient that sits in her chair. In her free time, Sommer likes to ride her bike, spend time with friends and attempt to cook amazing dinners!
Courtney is a lifelong resident of Sanford, NC. She has two children that she adores. Her son is an avid baseball player which she enjoys watching him play. She graduated from Lee Senior High school in 2001 and went on to Central Carolina Community college and earned her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with children for the past 16 years.
She most recently earned her Dental assisting certification including Dental Radiography certification.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach or lake; she loves to fish and ride 4 wheelers.
Julie is originally from Southbury Connecticut and moved to Holly Springs back in 2005. Before moving down to NC, she earned a Bachelors degree from Plymouth State University and a Masters degree from Southern CT State University in the field of Human Physiology and Exercise Science/Nutrition. After working in the health field for over 20 years, she decided to go back to school to earn her certificate in Dental Assisting.
She has experience working with people of all ages and enjoys helping people and making a difference in their lives. She has had an interest in dentistry for many years and was so excited to have the opportunity to make the career change. Having been working with people in healthcare for a while now, she knows how important it is to have proper and consistent dental care for overall well-being and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience.
Julie is married with two children and when she is not working she is relaxing and spending time with her family. She enjoys the outdoors and likes to walk, run, hike, bike, and play sports such as basketball and soccer.
